There can be a number of challenges that can hold people back from reaching out for help. Elderly people may have various concerns, such as money or trusting people they haven't met. They might feel uneasy about asking for help or think it's unnecessary. There can be a fear of the unknown.
Caring for elderly parents can be a significant responsibility for their children, especially if they have their own careers and families to look after. Trying to find a solution can be a balancing act.
We believe that it is wrong for anyone to struggle, especially as our bodies age. Ageing is a natural process, and our society has an ageing population. We empathise with the feeling of isolation at home and the sense of having to do everything yourself.
We wanted to create a local home care service to help the Worcester, Malvern, and surrounding communities. You can join the hundreds of local people we've supported and cared for since 2020.
- They'll visit you at home and conduct a care assessment. Within 24 hours of the visit, they will provide you with a care plan to consider.
- If you decide to continue with your care plan, a care professional will come at the agreed-upon times and days.
- If you experience any concerns or problems with your care plan, our office team is available to listen and help. We are as sympathetic and understanding of our clients' views and needs as possible.

Biologically, people age at different rates, so there isn't an exact age that describes an elderly person. Some people around the world continue working past the age of 100 because they are healthy and able to do so.
If we wanted to use a benchmark, we could say that the current pension age is around 66 in the UK. So, in theory, someone older than 66 could be considered elderly. However, someone who is 80 could be healthier than someone who is 60 so there isn't an exact age that can be given. Everyone is different and ages differently.
As our bodies age, more support can make a world of difference.
We have an ageing population. By 2025, there will be around 18.5 million people in the UK aged over 60. Worcestershire and surrounding counties are areas of outstanding natural beauty, which make them the perfect area to retire to. Properties are affordable (in comparison to London), and there is a direct train to London. The area has a higher-than-average older population.
Stuart Callister is the founder of Severn Vale Home Care. His parents are almost 80 years old, and he founded the company in 2020 with them in mind. He wanted a home care company that would be suitable for his parents and the community he grew up in.
At Severn Vale, we provide care for older people in their own homes so they can feel safe and comfortable.
We can assist you with regular, short visits, or provide 24/7 live-in care with a full-time care professional. Our care packages are flexible, meaning that we can offer care and support for short- or long-term care.
At Severn Vale, our care professionals will learn about you and assist with your hobbies and interests by being your companion. This type of care for elderly people can help you feel more connected, combat loneliness, and improve mental health.
More practical help for older people might include assistance with a wide range of household chores. Severn Vale Home Care can provide home help for elderly people. Tasks might include cleaning, laundry, and preparing tasty and nutritious meals. We can even take care of your pets. We can also provide personal care: help getting in and out of bed, washing, dressing, medication support, and continence care.
In short, the team at Severn Vale can offer as little or as much care as you need. Of course, we can review this as your needs change.
We will listen to you carefully to make sure your care plan addresses the type of care you need. We provide a range of care, from companionship visits to specialist care, where we collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals.

Care calls for Visiting Care can take place between 7am and 10pm everyday.
Live in Care is 24/7 and your Care Professional will require a daily break of 2 hours. There
are various options to enable this that will be discussed at the care assessment.
They will help with all personal care needs, washing, dressing, assistance to access toilet
facilities, meal preparation, basic housekeeping, administering medication, social trips /
appointments and looking after pets. Our Care Professionals are interesting and engaging
and also offer great company!
If you are receiving Visiting Care we will introduce your primary Care Professional who will
provide the majority of your care. We will also introduce you to a small team of Care
Professionals who will provide your Care when your primary care is on holiday or is
unavailable.
For Live in Care you will have one main Care Professional. We will arrange cover when your
main Carer goes on holiday.
Following an initial conversation we can usually accommodate a care assessment in 24 hours.
Following this we will discuss and agree a start date.
Our office team are in constant communication with your Care Professionals both prior to
your care beginning and throughout your care. Both our management team and family
members can access all care logs completed by our Care Professionals that is accessed by the
Severn Vale App. We also conduct regular quality reviews. Our friendly office team can be
contacted 7 days a week between 7am and 10pm should you wish to speak to us about any
aspect of your care.
If you have any concerns whatsoever you should contact a member of the Severn Vale office
team and we will help to resolve any issues.
Following the Care Assessment if you would like to go ahead, we will go through and leave a
copy of our terms and conditions for you to read. To begin Care we need a signed copy of the
Ts & Cs. You will also need to complete a Direct Debit form. We will send invoices
fortnightly in arrears and these amounts are collected usually a week later by Direct Debit.
For Live in Care we also take a returnable deposit equivalent to 2 weeks of care.
