Severn Vale Home Care Shortlisted for 2025 Living Wage Champion Award
Severn Vale Home Care is celebrating national recognition after being officially shortlisted for the Living Wage Champion Awards 2025, honouring employers who are leading the way on fair pay and ethical employment practices across the UK.
The Worcestershire-based care provider, renowned for its person-centred approach to domiciliary care, has been shortlisted in the Health & Social Care Champion category. The awards, organised by the Living Wage Foundation, spotlight employers who go above and beyond the minimum to prioritise their workforce’s well-being; something Severn Vale Home Care has made a cornerstone of its mission.
“We believe that quality care begins with valuing our care professionals,” said Stuart Callister, Founding Director. “Being shortlisted for this award is a powerful endorsement of our commitment to fair pay, secure contracts, and long-term financial stability for our team.”
As proud members of the Living Wage Foundation, Severn Vale Home Care always ensures its Care Professionals are paid far in excess of the Real Living Wage, currently set at £12.60 per hour outside London, Living Hours and Living Pension initiatives, providing fair working patterns and contributing to employees’ future financial security.
Severn Vale’s ethical employment model includes:
- Guaranteed contracts of at least 16 hours per week for many staff, while also offering flexible arrangements for those who prefer casual hours.
- Shift notice of at least four weeks, allowing caregivers to plan around work.
- A 7% pension contribution based on a full-time real Living Wage salary.
- Ongoing financial literacy and pension support, helping staff save confidently for the future.
These standards have resulted in higher staff retention, improved morale, and most importantly, better quality care for service users. “It’s time to reimagine social care not only as a vital service but as an ethical and attractive place to work,” said Stuart.
The winners of the Living Wage Champion Awards 2025 will be announced at a ceremony in Newcastle this July. If successful, Severn Vale Home Care would join a prestigious list of UK employers recognised for transforming lives through responsible business practices.
Based in Worcestershire, Severn Vale Home Care delivers outstanding home care by putting people, both care professionals and our elderly clients, at the heart of everything they do.
