In Memory of Mr. Darcy: A Tribute to Our Beloved Head of Company Well-being

Today, we pause to honour and reflect on the remarkable legacy of Mr. Darcy, who served as Severn Vale’s beloved Head of Company Well-being. Mr. Darcy was more than just a figurehead—he was a constant source of joy, comfort, and positivity for the entire team. His friendly, reassuring presence touched every aspect of our work lives, and his warm spirit will be dearly missed.

For many of us, Mr. Darcy was the highlight of every meeting. Whether it was his comforting gaze or his calming demeanour, he had a special way of making even the most stressful days brighter. Stuart, in particular, found an inseparable bond in Mr. Darcy, who was not only his loyal companion but also his most trusted friend. Their connection embodied the spirit of camaraderie and care that Mr. Darcy brought to the entire team.

But it wasn’t all about serious work for Mr. Darcy. He had his own unique methods for promoting health and well-being across the office. His commitment to keeping us all on track with our diets was legendary. Mr. Darcy would dutifully check every bag he could get his paws on, in search of those sneaky snacks, and would remind us to stay mindful of our choices. Of course, his love for snacks never waned when it came to the festive season—his dedication to eating as many Christmas cookies as possible became an annual tradition we will fondly remember.

Though Mr. Darcy is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in his brother and successor, Dougal Callister, the newest member of our well-being team. Dougal joined Severn Vale at just 8 weeks old and began his apprenticeship with great enthusiasm. His first task, naturally, was attending a team meeting, where he quickly endeared himself to everyone. With Mr. Darcy’s paws as big ones to fill, Dougal has already shown promise in his role, determined to follow in his brother’s footsteps and carry forward the legacy of company care.

As we look toward the future, we are confident that Dougal will continue to build on the foundation Mr. Darcy laid, fostering a work environment where well-being, friendship, and a little bit of fun remain at the core of everything we do.
